City of Greenbrier

City of Greenbrier Refuse

LRS provides the City of Greenbrier residents with services for refuse (garbage). LRS offers other services for Greenbrier residents such as large, open top construction style containers as well.  We are proud to be a partner in your community!

For more information on the required collection for specific items or material types, please click on one of the tabs below.

Clarendon Hills Residential Waste & Recycling

Garbage is collected on Monday through Friday in the City of Greenbrier; all items need to be placed out to the curb the night before service.  Please contact customer service if you are looking to confirm service day. LRS offers wheeled carts for garbage with a flip-top lid and handlebar to throw your refuse in. Anything outside of the cart will be left behind. All residents should use the LRS issued cart for garbage materials. LRS offers additional waste carts for an additional rental fee.

DIY Construction

Home remodeling waste that includes, but is not limited to drywall, plywood, paneling, lumber, doors, windows, cabinets, porcelain fixtures, sod, fencing, concrete, or rocks will require special pickups. Residents will need to schedule service for these items and call to receive instructions on how to best prepare them for collection. Estimates will be provided, and items will be charged by the yard.

Dumpster Services

LRS has expanded our temporary services division to create an easier customer experience for those using our services, especially for the homeowner, whether a residential renovation project with a dumpster. These temporary services include dumpster roll-offs of all sizes to contain your construction debris.

Contact us today to discover all the ways Lakeshore can make your waste removal even easier, no matter the project.

Contact LRS at 479-264-2772 for any items you are unsure about. Items requiring additional labor and/or equipment to manage are a Special Refuse Collection. LRS will provide a cost estimate if we are able to provide the service.  LRS does not guarantee collection of every item.

For more information, questions and to arrange for services, please call LRS Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at 479-264-2772.

How do I clean my cart?

Fill the cart with hot water and a capful of vinegar or grease-cutting dish soap. Let it sit for about 10 minutes and rinse. Once the cart has been thoroughly rinsed, set the cart out with the lid open in the sun to dry.

What if I need my cart replaced?

Carts that are broken due to damage incurred during the collection are reported by the driver for replacement at no charge. Residents are encouraged to contact LRS if they notice damage to the cart during the collection process to request a replacement cart.

If damage occurs to the cart due to other reasons, please contact LRS to request a replacement cart. An exchange fee will be applied and billed to the resident if requesting a new cart due to damage not incurred during the collection process or odors.

Is this considered garbage?

Latex paint

Latex paint is considered regular garbage, but it must be completely dried, with the lid off so the driver is able to see inside the can. Dry latex paint by leaving lid off or open and/or mix kitty litter until the paint is completely absorbed. Do not place out for collection until the paint is completely dry.

Alkaline batteries

Alkaline batteries are considered regular garbage and should be thrown into the garbage. It is always recommended that tape be used on each end of the battery and placed into a plastic sandwich bag when disposing of them.

How do I report a missed pickup?

If your waste is not collected on the service day, please contact LRS by calling 479-264-2772

You can also reach out by submitting a support request in the top right-hand section of this webpage.

The holidays below will impact service only if it falls before or on your day of service, Sunday-Friday. Holidays falling on a Saturday will not impact your collection day. LRS observes and will be closed for the six holidays below:

LRS will take 2 cubic yards of additional waste that is not able to fit into your cart as long as it is within Illinois landfill regulations and it is safe to handle by the driver(s). Up to 2 bulk items will be collected as long as each item is under 50 pounds and under 2 cubic yards.

For items that do not fit the above criteria, LRS will provide service as needed, scheduled at an agreed upon per-yard basis. This service will be upon request, and billed separately.

White Goods

Upon request, LRS will provide collection of major appliances, including but not limited to ovens and refrigerators.

Residents simply need to call LRS and speak to a representative who will set up a date to collect the item, and provide a quote for removal. This will be billed separately.

Christmas Trees

LRS will provide curbside collection of Christmas trees for the month of January at no charge. Only live trees (not in bags) free of any tinsel, lights or ornaments will be accepted.

Additional Cart(s)

Should you need an additional waste (or recycling) cart, LRS will provide one at a cost of $3 per month, per cart.

LRS will provide residents with one recycling cart at no cost that will be collected weekly on the same day as your waste. Residents may place out as many recyclable items as they wish each week for collection. Recyclable material that won’t fit in recycling carts may be placed at the side of the cart. What is considered yard waste?

Yard-waste, also known as landscape waste, consists of organic waste materials accumulated as the result of cultivation and maintenance of gardens, lawns, shrubbery, trees and vines.

Guidelines

Residents can elect to use paper bags, brown craft bags or personal cans (32 gallons or smaller) with all options 50lbs or less in weight, per. Please place brush, limbs, branches or trimmings in bundled or twined stacks no larger than 3’ in length and 18” in diameter, at your collection point.

  • Tree branches or limbs three inches in diameter and smaller need to be cut into three-foot lengths bundled and placed on the parkway for pickup. Branches larger than three inches in diameter are to be put in the alley
  • No plastic
  • Yard waste (grass, shrub clippings, etc.) need to be put in front, on the parkway in paper bags, or containers no larger than 33 gallons

Christmas Trees

In January, we will begin to gladly collect your non-artificial Christmas trees as organic material – free of any tinsel, ornaments or lights.  Trees can be left loose (never in bags) in the area where you have regular service for trash and recycling. Due to snow and ice, trees may not always be picked up on your service day as our drivers and trucks will be in the village all month for pickups.

Bulk items (that do not fit into your refuse cart) are collected loose, on your regular day of service.  Each household is permitted up to two bulk  items on the service day under 75lbs.

If an item exceeds 75lbs, residents may need to call LRS to schedule a special pickup. If a “bulk” item is considered hazardous, unacceptable for landfills or deemed unacceptable to take as garbage, the item(s) will not be taken.

Mattresses and box/bed springs are required to be in a plastic mattress cover and taped securely shut. Plastic mattress covers may be purchased at retail outlets such as Walmart, Lowes, Menards, Home Depot and storage unit facilities. Packaging wrap or trash bags cut up and taped around to cover a mattress or box spring are also acceptable options.

Please call LRS to see if such items can be scheduled for a special pickup.

Electronic Waste (E-Waste) items that are banned from the landfill (cannot go into the regular garbage).

LRS provides annual home collection of electronic waste (E-Waste) for Village of Summit households that have LRS waste and yard waste collection. This service provides a more convenient and simple way to responsibly manage electronics that are banned from the landfill. There is no charge for this service. There is also no prescheduling required, we only ask items be at the curb  by 6AM the day of collection. Alley collection of e-waste will not be permitted.

Yard waste collection takes place on a seasonal basis, starting April 1st, and ending on the last Friday in November each year on the same day as refuse and recycling.

What is considered yard waste?

Yard waste,  also known as landscape waste, consists of organic waste materials accumulated as the result of cultivation and maintenance of gardens, lawns, shrubbery, trees and vines.

Guidelines

Residents can elect to use paper bags, brown craft bags or personal metal or plastic cans (35 gallons or smaller) with all options 50lbs or less in weight, per. Please place brush, limbs, branches or trimmings in bundled or twined stacks no larger than 4’ in length, 24” in diameter and not exceeding 50lbs, at your collection point. Yard waste must be clearly labeled “Yard Waste”. Yard waste tags are free of charge and are available at the Village Commons during normal business hours.

Fall Leaf Collection

Yard waste, including leaves, will be picked up on Fridays. Please do not rake piles of leaves into the street or curb line as this causes problems with the Village’s sewer system and interferes with street sweeping activities.

Brush & Tree Branch Pick-Up

North Riverside Public Works provides brush and branch collection every Tuesday between March 15 and November 15. Materials are to be placed in an orderly manner with butt ends facing the street in the public parkways near the curb in front of your home.

Branches will not be collected from the alleys.

If an item exceeds 50lbs, residents may need to call LRS to schedule a special pickup. If a “bulk” item is considered hazardous, unacceptable for landfills or deemed unacceptable to take as garbage, the item(s) will not be taken.  Items should be placed where you normally receive collection service.

LRS provides bi-annual home collection of electronic waste (E-Waste) for North Riverside households that have LRS waste and recycling collection. This service provides a more convenient and simple way to responsibly manage electronics that are banned from the landfill. There is no charge for this service. A request by the deadline must be submitted to ensure collection.

If your waste, recycling, or yard waste services are not collected on the service day by 6 pm, please contact LRS by either calling 844.633.3577 or e-mailing service@lrsrecycles.com

Please include your address and what service was missed.
